Attorney & Mediator Stephen F. McDonough
Steve is a native of Bedford, MA. Before becoming a lawyer and a mediator, he spent 13 years in municipal law enforcement where his duties ranged from motorcycle officer and firearms instructor to shift commander. Steve also served in the Air National Guard and then the Air Force Reserves as a Security Police Officer, receiving an honorable discharge.
While attending Suffolk University Law School’s evening division, Steve was a stay at home dad during the day and worked as a licensed insurance broker and bartender. Steve also holds his real estate broker’s license.
Clients benefit from Steve’s mix of technical knowledge, varied experiences and approachable style. After completing law school, Steve and his family gave warmer clients a try, and loaded up the truck and moved to Charlotte, NC. In Charlotte, Steve was an attorney with the Rosen Law Firm, a progressive divorce-only firm with several offices in NC. He was interviewed on a local TV station and presented numerous seminars on divorce law, and worked with clients in both litigation and mediation settings.
Upon returning to Massachusetts in 2006, Steve started a law firm in Norfolk. In 2009, Steve founded The Divorce Collaborative LLC of Franklin, MA desiring to have a firm dedicated to helping clients through divorce and other family law matters. Steve is also interested in technology (especially all things Mac) and law practice management.
Although divorce is serious stuff, Steve is able to use humor at the right time to help clients through a difficult period. He is active in the Norfolk, MA Lions Club, the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce, The Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce, and a number of professional groups and bar associations. The firm is also a new member of the Franklin Downtown Partnership. For fun, Steve enjoys music and is an experienced drummer and percussionist. He has performed in many different bands, ranging from The Concord Band to pop, rock, and jazz groups around the Boston area. Steve lives in Norfolk, MA with his family and a number of other critters, including Mr. Rooney – the poodle that always seems to need a haircut.
