More details on how TDC leverages technology to provide you with a superior client experience will be covered in your downloadable client handbook.

  • Most firms do not offer clients the options of mediation, collaborative divorce process, or litigation.  We do, so there is no reason to steer you towards any particular process.  We want to help you select the process that will be the best fit for you, not us.
  • TDC has a network of  professionals available to assist with your case if needed, including top-tier divorce coaches and other mental health experts, as well as divorce financial experts, realtors, and college financial planning and mortgage professionals.

About Massachusetts Divorce Attorney and Mediator Stephen F. McDonough

I obtained my law degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston after a 13 year police career. Although admitted to practice in North Carolina and Massachusetts, I currently only practice in Massachusetts finding the commute to NC somewhat lengthy. I served in the MA Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserves, receiving an honorable discharge after guarding alert fighter aircraft at Otis Air National Guard Base on Cape Cod and giant cargo airplanes at Westover Air Force Base. I was really good at this and never let anyone steal any airplanes.

Before starting The Divorce Collaborative LLC, I founded and managed a law firm in Norfolk, Massachusetts that grew to four attorneys. Right after law school I worked on my BBQ preparation skills while an associate attorney at the Rosen Law Firm in North Carolina.

Like most attorneys, I belong to a number of professional associations, including the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council, where I served on the Board of Directors. I am also a member of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, Massachusetts Bar Association, Norfolk County Bar Association, and the Western Norfolk County Bar Association.

Personally, I enjoy music and have been playing the drums since 5th grade. I have performed in a variety of bands, ranging from classic rock and jazz to community concert bands. I am active in the Norfolk, MA Lions Club and enjoy spending time with family and friends to unwind. I like to cook, but never use recipes. Technology interests me, and I am pleased to be a Mac computer user. I used to ride motorcycles quite a bit, including in my previous career and even on a racetrack, and hope to again sometime in the not too distant future. I play golf, but am not sure why as I don’t actually like golfing after about six holes. I have been married for almost 20 years to Michelle, and we have two children and two dogs.

  • Clients with children recognize the importance of minimizing the effects of conflict on children, realizing that a “nasty” divorce can harm kids.
  • Clients of TDC appreciate attentive service and enjoy the benefits or working with attentive and caring professionals. We strive to help manage your stress by returning your calls and emails promptly and offering flexible scheduling options, including evenings and weekends.
  • Clients realize legal fees are an important consideration, but that selecting your lawyer or mediator based upon price alone is a mistake.  An efficient practitioner with a higher rate compared to an inefficient, lower-priced attorney or mediator can save you money in fees.

About The Divorce Collaborative LLC Logo:

The logo of The Divorce Collaborative LLC is based upon the ancient Celtic triquetra symbol. Although historians disagree as to the exact meaning of this symbol, it is frequently seen as part of Celtic knots and the trinity motif has been found alongside ancient solar and lunar drawings.

The triquetra has been said to represent a wide range of things, including:

o Mind, Body, Spirit
o Mother, Father, Child
o Past, Present, Future
o Thought, Feeling, and Emotion
o Creation, Preservation, and Destruction

Although the above list can certainly be related to family law practice, I also interpret the symbol to represent the three major methods for resolving family legal conflict – Mediation, Collaborative Process, or Litigation.

Because a significant portion of the firm’s practice is mediation, the symbol also represents three people at the mediation table – separate, but connected in an effort to reach a lasting resolution.

The logo was designed by Carrison Design of Norfolk, Massachusetts.
